**Health and Safety Advisor**:
**About the role**

The Health & Safety Advisor will work closely with the Associate Director and Department Admin Controller to oversee health, safety, and wellbeing compliance. As the Health & Safety advisor, you will not only be a hands-on advisor to all internal and external employees, but also a mentor for colleagues.

We’re looking for someone who is keen to progress into a senior position and is capable of taking on management responsibilities. You will also have the confidence to advise and support senior managers, directors and staff within the department, and be able to represent the overall business to external governing bodies and regulators and clients.

- Ability to control demeanour and act confidently in challenging and emergency circumstances
- Attending emergencies to offer support.

A full UK driving licence.

Good up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation.

Graduate member of IOSH, working towards Chartered.

Carry out duties as may be required by the health and safety manager.

Monitors compliance with the use of quality materials for various work schedules.

Liaises with health and safety regulatory authorities.

Trains employees on best practices that will ensure safety while carrying out day to day work schedules.

Ensures that where necessary changes occur in the organisation’s work practices if such changes will lead to a marked reduction in the likelihood of avoidable hazards occurring.

Maintains a record each for in-house accidents, both settled and contended claims, and best practices for the organization to ensure its practices are healthy and safe.

Plans with the health and safety manager to train or retrain junior workers to ensure that the team is well-skilled.

Ensure that safety and personal protective equipment are used following manufacturer’s instructions.

Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.

Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.

Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, including incident statistics and trends.

Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.

Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Proven experience as a Safety Specialist or similar role.

In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and presenting findings.

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.

**Qualifications**:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or equivialent qualyfication.
