**About the role**

Young People’s Programme (YPP)

Children and Young People (CYP) are a top focus for Sage Gateshead across our programmes of activity.

This programme focuses on CYP developing their skills as musicians, producers, and leaders. Artistic work for young people as audiences is made within other parts of our programme. YPP includes two strands which develop young people as musicians, producers, and leaders:

- YPP - our programme for CYP aged 4 - 25 to develop skills as musicians. This includes our Young Musicians Programme (YMP) (early years, open access and advanced, including our Centre for Advanced Training), In Harmony Newcastle Gateshead and training for Music Leaders;
- Schools, Further Education, Arts Award and Artsmark, supporting schools to actively engage with Arts Award, Artsmark and the Cultural Education Challenge and our Level 2 and 3 Music courses in partnership with Gateshead College; In Harmony Cello Tutor

We work in collaboration with Sage Gateshead’s Young Programmers Group, Music Education Hubs, Culture Bridge North East, and other partners to develop young artists and increase musical, personal, and social outcomes for CYP.

**Programme information and Overall Purpose of Job**

In Harmony is a national initiative that aims to inspire and transform the lives of children through community-based orchestral music-making. This immersive programme improves the life chances of children and young people in the West End of Newcastle, by increasing confidence, wellbeing, resilience, and educational attainment. By working in partnership, In Harmony helps build stronger communities, generating pride, hope and aspiration.

The In Harmony Cello Tutor will be part of a small, supportive team at Hawthorn Primary School and Bridgewater School in the west end of Newcastle - detail on the individual Schedules of Work can be found below. The children the Tutor will be teaching are aged between 5 -11, with a focus on Key Stage 1 pedagogy.
