We are looking to recruit an experianced security professional to provide our operational managers with advice and support on physical, electronic, and procedural security matters. This is a great opportunity for the right person as the National Trust has such an amazing range of places that all have security requirements in some form. Very few working days are the sameThe role covers our North and Midlands/East regions plus Northern Ireland and involves up to a couple of days travel each week with overnight stays if required, so you will ideally need to live centrally in the North / Midlands and must have a full UK driving licence. The travel is necessary, but what differentiates this job opportunity from others are the visits to the wonderous places we look after.Your nominated location will be one of our local hub offices, however home working arrangements that strike the right balance for you and the Trust will be agreed.

You’ll regularly visit our amazing sites which are all looked after by passionate staff and volunteers that value support and advice from our Operational Risk team. The sites are all different and include historic houses with amazing art collections; countryside sites, including mountains, forests, coastline, plus shops, and cafes.
- What you'll be doing:You’ll be an important member of our Operational Risk function which provides professional guidance to colleagues on health and safety, fire, security, access, equality, and environmental compliance.
- You’ll be responsible for conducting scheduled security audits, advising on, and monitoring completion of security improvement projects, and acting as a security business partner to the properties, regions, and a variety of professional colleagues.
- Learning about security practice as it applies to the unique setting of the National Trust including museums and historic buildings, plus safety and security in the context of countryside management.
- You’ll work for the National Security Specialist for the Trust, and also be an integral member of our North Team of Operational Risk Business Partners.
- Who we're looking forYou’ll be a security professional with evidence of extensive formal training, qualifications, and/or experience, allowing you to work independently in role.
- A strong verbal and written communicator, you’ll be client-focused, and be able to demonstrate a pragmatic manner.
- A great relationship builder, you’ll have the confidence to coach and positively influence colleagues including senior managers.
- Strong knowledge of security systems, particularly all aspects of intruder alarm operations and CCTV, plus prioritisation of personal safety requirements.
