The team
- The Analysis & Reporting team provides water quality and biological data to support and feed into all monitoring obligations. It delivers a vital service that underpins much of the Environment Agency’s statutory responsibilities relating to water quality and environmental legislation. We work closely with other area teams to deliver an integrated monitoring and reporting service.
Experience/skills required
- We are seeking an Environmental Monitoring Officer with extensive knowledge and experience of water quality issues. You’ll be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and possess proven ability and/or knowledge of:
- how to design and conduct surveys to investigate causes of water quality issues;
- use of technical water quality monitoring equipment;
- data analysis and interpretation using chemical metrics and indices for use in investigations and reports under the Water Framework Directive and other key drivers;
- knowledge of biological methods used to identify water quality issues would be an advantage;

- The role is based in Welwyn Garden City, although travelling to field locations across the relevant area is required and therefore the post requires a full UK driving licence to be held with experience of driving in the UK. It is also a requirement of the post you are a confident swimmer.
