About the role
The Associate Director - Governance, Risk, Compliance and Administration (GRCA) is an executive role within the Directorate of IT Services, working with the Director of IT you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the University achieves its ambitions for thefuture.
Our technology roadmap is crucial to supporting the University and working with Finance and Procurement teams this role will be key in developing our governance, risk, and compliance functions, to ensure we have the frameworks in place to flourish and innovate.Working across a broad stakeholder group both internally and externally you will build strategic relationships to enable us to innovate with our partners bringing more value to the University.
You will lead and manage the GRCA function - known internally as Directorate Services - and ensure continuous improvement by developing people and processes that support the vision, mission, and core values of the University.
Directorate Services consists of four areas: Operational Support; IT Supplier Management; IT Governance, Risk and Compliance; and IT Health and Safety. These critical functions control and/or govern all aspects of the running of the IT Directorate and havelarge budgets, long-term strategic planning requirements and complex risk portfolios associated. You will have four direct reports and lead a collection of teams comprised of around 45 staff.

Core skills
- Experience of designing, building, and establishing a governance, risk and compliance function in a large complex and political environment.
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams across IT Governance, Administration, and wider technology groups.
- Experience of implementing and managing frameworks including COBIT, sharing best practice, and promoting the value of Technology across a broad stakeholder group and complex boundaries.
- Demonstrable experience of motivating and inspiring a large team and driving an inclusive, values-based culture.
- Experience of external supplier management, from supplier selection through to procurement, development and on-going operation.
- A strong track record in directing and managing innovative change and continuous improvement ensuring organisational performance and outcomes across a complex portfolio of responsibilities.
- Desirable qualifications include CGEIT (Certified in Governance of Enterprise IT), COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies), ITIL and/or CMMI.

Salary / Package
This is a senior leadership position offering a competitive salary (depending on experience), along with 29 days annual leave (plus 4 closure days over Christmas and 8 bank holidays), flexible working (office based at least two days a week) and an attractivepension scheme (up to 21% employer contributions).
