Join Mercer as a summer intern with our actuarial team and experience working for a global company shaping the future of Health, Wealth, and Career consulting.

For many companies, their pensions arrangements can represent a significant financial risk. Our actuarial team provides comprehensive advice to trustees and corporate sponsors of defined benefit pension schemes in areas such as scheme funding, individual benefits, risk management and more.

As trusted advisors, our main goal is to communicate complex analysis in simple terms for our clients to make well-informed decisions on their pensions issues. During your internship you will support analysts and consultants with this work while gaining valuable knowledge about financial markets and the pensions industry.

This is an eight-week paid internship providing penultimate year students with an accelerated foundation to their career.

**What can you expect?**

- Working with our consulting team you’ll see how we support companies, trustee boards, and individuals in making informed decisions about their retirement plans, long-term savings, investment strategies, and risk management.
- You’ll have an introduction to consulting, learn from experienced professionals, and develop a breadth of skills over a period of eight weeks.

**We will count on you to**:

- As trusted advisors, our main goal is to communicate complex analysis in simple terms for our clients to make well-informed decisions on their pensions issues. You will support analysts and consultants with this work while gaining valuable knowledge about financial markets and the pensions industry.

**What you need to have**:

- You should be a penultimate year student and on track to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree classification. If your degree discipline is not mathematics-based, a minimum of a grade A mathematics at A level (or equivalent) will be required.
- English and Mathematics GCSE (Minimum Grade 4).
- Right to Work in the UK (we are unable to provide Visa sponsorship for this role).

**What makes you stand out?**
- Ability to think critically and problem solve a wide variety of issues: analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
- Ability to communicate effectively and develop strong working relationships; you also show initiative and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment.
- Natural proactivity and organisational, presentational, and project management skills with good attention to detail; proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
