**Job title: Progress Mentor - Learning Support**

**Contract Terms**:32.5 hours per week (full time contract) or part-time hours will be
considered

Term time only plus INSET days
Paid 52 weeks

**Hours of Work**:8.30am - 3.30pm. One half hour unpaid break each day

**Pay Scale**:KKS Point 8 to 11 (£16,098 to £16,755)

**Key purpose of the role
in ‘closing the gaps’, that is, ensuring that students identified as having Special Educational Needs, or

who need support in their learning, are helped to maximise their potential.

The successful applicant will support the learning of students, predominantly those with Special

Educational Needs.

The successful applicant will also be expected to play a full part in the daily life of a successful and

thriving secondary school.

**Main

**Responsibilities**:
**Support students in the classroom**
- Support students’ learning, both classroom and homework.***
- Assist with class management.***

**Support students outside the classroom**
- Support students’ progress in one to one and small group support as appropriate.
- Support the emotional health and wellbeing of students.
- Support the work of the pastoral team across the school.

**Track and monitor the performance of students**
- Support students with progress and attainment.
- Assist with literacy and numeracy support.

**Establish relationships with learners**
- Act as a positive role model.
- Promote the child’s self-esteem and confidence.
- Listen to a student’s concerns.

**Work with classroom teachers and other school staff**

**Accompany visits and field trips as required**

**Any other reasonable task requested from the Headteacher**
In all these duties, the post holder will be directly responsible to the Head of Learning Support and/or
2 i/c Learning Support, who will be the line-manager for monitoring of performance within school.

- Participate in the appraisal programme, training and other learning activities and performance

development as required. You will recognise your own strengths and areas of expertise and

use these to advise and support others;
- Be responsible for the care and welfare of their own and others’ health and safety whilst on

school premises.
