An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist Clinical Psychologist to join Hammersmith and Fulham Tier 2 Community CAMHS team. The team is comprised of psychologists, assistant psychologists, trainee and qualified CBT practitioners, family therapists, child psychotherapists, social workers and Child Wellbeing Practitioners.

The post holder would provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to children and adolescents in Hammersmith and Fulham Tier 2 CAMHS aged 0 -18 and their families, across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy; offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to non-professional carers.

The service is committed to broadening accessibility to ensure that robust, evidence based mental health support is accessible to all in the community and is offered in a timely way. Initiatives are being implemented to broaden access, including through the use of innovative digital tools as well as through embedding clinicians in community settings and developing relationships in community organisations such as youth groups, faith groups as well as in children’s centres and GP settings.

The post holder will join an established multi-disciplinary CAMHS which is responsible for providing Tier 2 mental health services within the borough. The post holder will work in Hammersmith and Fulham Community CAMHS Team with young people aged 0- 18 years. The clinic setting is based in central Hammersmith and there may be some limited travel to other parts of the borough to attend community settings.

The post holder will provide mental health support and treatment for children and young people, carrying out comprehensive specialist psychological assessments

(including risk and the development of risk management plans) and offering specialist intervention packages using a variety of treatment models. In addition, the staff member will be expected to offer clinical supervision within the psychology/CBT discipline.

The current team consists of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Systemic Family Therapists, Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Assistant Psychologist, Clinical Associate Psychologist, Social Workers, CBT Therapist and Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners, providing multiple perspectives and allowing for MDT discussions.

Other aspects of the role include developing relationships with key partner agencies and community organisations working locally with children and young people, i.e. schools, GPs, social workers, community groups etc

The postholder may undertake joint assessments and interventions with social work colleagues, and/ or offer consultation, where the need arises.
