**Objectives of the job**
- Undertake the maintenance of the Home to ensure its safety
- Provide a maintenance service, undertaking a variety of tasks including decorating, carpentry, plumbing, brickwork, plastering, etc., to ensure safe environments are maintained
- Liaise with the home manager when preparing to do a job to assess the materials needed and time allocation for the work to ensure work is carried out to meet the Homes needs
- Once Authorised order the necessary materials, equipment for the work to be carried out, collecting them or having them delivered to ensure the work can start on time
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are kept in good working order
- Ensure the working area is left clean and tidy at the end of each day and at the end of the job to ensure a safe environment is maintained
- Carry out works identified in external and internal audits/inspections

**Key responsibilities and accountabilities**

Functional:
- Use of wide range of machinery/equipment e.g. kitchen, gardening, general maintenance, etc.
- Knows how to organise own work load
- Know how to prioritise work and deliver on time
- Contributes to day-to-day smooth running of the Home
- Able to maintain accurate and timely records as required by the role
- Identifies and knows how to solve everyday job-based problems in liaison with Home Manager
- Understands the requirement for working with others and in teams
- Able to form effective working relationships needed for the job
- Able to deal with others courteously and in an acceptable manner
- Able to understand information, advise and liaise with others accordingly
- Able to be receptive to information being communicated (which can be non-verbal), contribute to its interpretation and pass on to others as appropriate
- Able to listen, observe and contribute to discussions as required for the job e.g. work plans etc.
- Able to communicate using information technology as required for the job
- Liaise with external maintenance suppliers/contractors
- Knows the cost approval process if applicable to the job
- Able to handle cash in a secure way and according to the requirements of the job

- First Aid and Hygiene Practice;
- Lone working procedures and responsibilities
- Able to recognise and to deal with emergency situations

- Knowledge of client groups, work groups, work areas, etc.
- Sufficient knowledge related to the care services and activities in order to train, coach and/or mentor others
- May have some formal qualifications relevant to the post e.g. NVQ’s, PCV/minibus licence
- Knowledge across a number of jobs, homes and/or processes within the Home/ Group
- Knowledge of how own job fits into the activity and role of the Home
- Has written and numeric skills in order to complete more detailed records and reports

**An Enhanced CRB Disclosure is required for this position**

**Salary**: £11.75 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift

- Nottingham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
