Kitchen Team Member

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work on a part-time basis in our kitchen at the Bishops Tavern on Cheltenham Road

The Bishops is a welcoming, quirky pub with plenty of live sport, students, shuffleboard & entertainment. We have a fairly small team who work closely together and all work hard to make the pub the best it can be.

Our current food sales mean we tend to only have one cook in the kitchen at a time (with cross-trained front of house team available for support as required). This means you will be hands-on from preparation to food handling to hygiene, and will be running kitchen shifts on your own (with your own music playing). This means you will need excellent time management skills - remaining productive when quiet and upping the pace as required - and great communication skills - working closely with the team to deliver top service. Therefore, previous kitchen experience is required and you will be given full training by our kitchen supervisor to learn all aspects of the role and spec to ensure you are set up for success

The Bishops belongs to a division of Greene King called Urban Pubs which has a strong focus on quality and great service in busy high-street pubs. Our menu is updated seasonally and your role will be to deliver this menu to specification in good time to a high quality standard. Our location means we can be quiet through the day and most of our sales are taken in the evenings and at weekends. As such, our kitchen's opening times are 5pm-9pm during the week, 12pm-9pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12pm-7pm on Sundays. We are looking for someone to work roughly two shifts a week ~around 20 hours~ with the possibility of working at a nearby sister pub if more hours are needed. We require someone who is keen to learn, has a genuine love for all things food and the passion & commitment to drive consistency & quality within the kitchen in order to grow our food sales with the potential outlook of increasing our kitchen trading times.
