Your new role This role provides a superb opportunity to be a Senior Project Manager leading the delivery of exciting operational technology projects that are critical to the future success of National Highways. If you are passionate about delivery, determined to succeed and want to develop new skills and opportunities that will enable you to progress in the future, then we’d like to hear from you. You will be working on the National Roads Telecommunications Service (NRTS) project which provides the vital telecommunications interconnectivity between our seven Regional Control Centres, our National Traffic Operations Centre and our 30,000 roadside assets(e.g. message signs, emergency phones, CCTV, speed enforcement) which enables National Highways to operate, maintain and develop our Strategic Road Network safely and efficiently for our customers who use it and our workforce who are deployed on it. From astrategic perspective NRTS is essential in enabling National Highways to deliver our strategic objectives. The NRTS project is currently in the delivery phase of a Transformation Programme to replace the legacy end of life equipment with the latest generation of telecommunications services that will provide a modern, scalable and flexible service to meet theneeds of the business through the next Road Investment Strategy (RIS2). Looking further ahead, there will be tremendous opportunity to project manage new projects across a variety of operational technologies and become involved in the transformation of the Digital Services team within Highways England. What you’ll be leading on - Responsible for the delivery of one or more NRTS Transformation projects depending on complexity/scale. - Working with the Lead Delivery Manager to drive and develop the working relationships between the suppliers, the technology teams and business colleagues. - Effectively managing activities to ensure high quality project outcomes are achieved on time and within budget. - Ensuring all projects you are involved in support the National Highways imperatives of safety, customer and delivery. - Tracking the delivery against the project plan, controlling risks and issues that impact success - The development and writing of business cases to define project requirements, financial models and justification for business approval - Responsible for the project financial profile month upon month from suppliers including forecasting and invoicing to tight tolerances - To be innovative to develop across the project to ensure value for money is obtained and explore new opportunities in efficiencies but always determining the associated risk, safety and performance To be successful - Engineering or other relevant degree and/or project management qualification - Solid experience in the delivery of fast paced and complex technology projects such as telecommunications, electrical engineering, CCTV or video. - Strong experience in managing multiple stakeholders across many workstreams both technically and commercially - Experience and ability to digest complex information and communicate across all levels both verbally and in writing (presentations and reports) - Be a strong team member with collaborative working methods to challenge "the current" but to able to provoke and introduce change Our benefits package - Our total reward package includes basic salary, the potential for a performance related bonus - Contributory pension scheme with employer contribution of up to 10% - Annual Leave starting at 26 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising by 1 day each year up to 31 days (plus Bank Holidays) - Flexible hours and blended working between base location/home - Life assurance of 4 times annual salary - Health and wellbeing support, including an Employee Assistance Programme, available 24/7 365 days and network of mental health first aiders.
