**The Role**

Flood & Water Management sits within the Asset Management team and as the Flood Risk Officer you will support the functions of the Lead Local Flood Authority. You will work on a range of flood risk and sustainable drainage duties and projects including implementationof the flood risk management plan and strategy, investigating, and recording flood incidents, inspecting, and maintaining flood risk assets and implementing interventions to alleviate flood risk in the Borough.

You will support the Senior Flood Risk Manager to provide effective, high quality and comprehensive flood risk management in accordance with the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and to achieve the Council’s objectives and strategies as a Lead Local FloodAuthority.

Key responsibilities
- Technical lead for flood risk projects in areas such as; surface water management; flood risk management strategies and assessments; development of resilience and resistance measures for flood risk; issuing Watercourse and Land Drainage consents.
- Undertake flood investigations, identifying causes of flooding, attending sites, undertaking site walkovers, watercourse inspections, asset inspections etc.
- Delivery of the programme of capital flood risk management schemes for the Council to help reduce flood risk in the Borough.
- Working collaboratively with key stakeholders including the Environment Agency, water companies, neighbouring LLFAs and other flood risk authorities.
- Reviewing tender documents and design drawings, work scheduling, raising work orders, compliance including health and safety and final completion in line with the contract, policy and standing orders.
- Managing project budgets and risk registers to ensure schemes are completed to programme, to standard and to budget.
- To liaise and deal courteously and in line with policy with all enquiries from elected Members, members of the public, and stakeholders to deliver service excellence, including the preparation of high quality, factual, letters, technical reports and otherdocuments as required.

Key Skills
- Educated to Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 1 year post qualification experience
- Knowledge and experience of drainage and surface water management, particularly in an engineering context
- Post qualifying experience in flood risk and drainage management and implementation.
- Good GIS skills
- Customer care awareness
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good financial and mathematical skills
- Ability to keep good work records
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
- Full driving licence or the ability to travel around the borough on a daily basis
