**Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship (SEND) - Earlham Primary School**

Earlham Primary School is a mainstream primary school in Wood Green with an inclusive ethos and high expectations of all members of the school community. We are seeking to recruit an SMSA for an immediate start. You will need to be able to relate well to children, organise playground games, supervise their lunch, and play activities under the direction of a senior SMSA. Knowledge of first aid is an advantage. We strive to enable all children to be the very best that they can be. We have a committed and hardworking team who work together to enable our children to achieve the very best outcomes. We are located a short journey from Wood Green underground station.

Overview of role:
Work under the guidance of the Class Teacher and the Inclusion leads to support the specific needs of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. You will predominantly be working with groups of children and individual children, under the direction of the class teacher and Inclusion lead. Your role will involve providing small group and individual support focused on our inclusive approach to ensure that all pupils access a high quality learning experience and achieve the best outcomes. The role also involves supporting pupils in the school breakfast and after-school club.

Key details:

- Hours: Monday to Friday (8.30am to 3.30 pm), 32.5 hours per week
- Term-time only (38 weeks per year)
- Location: Earlham Primary School, Earlham Grove, London, Wood Green, N22 5HJ

Apprenticeship details:

- Qualification: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
- Duration of course: 16 months
- Training Provider: LMP Education (Rated BEST UK provider )
- All learning delivered online/ remotely alongside the role.

Full Duties and Responsibilities:

- Support for Pupils_
- Assist the teacher with the development and implementation of Individual Learning Plans.
- Be familiar with and follow individual pupils’ learning plans and EHCPs.
- Support provision for pupils both in the classroom and through evidence-based interventions.
- Establish effective and supportive working relationships with all children, acting as a role model.
- Use a range of resources and strategies to ensure that children can access a full curriculum.
- Challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self-esteem.
- Support pupils to access learning at all times through effective intervention and adaptation.
- Attend to pupils’ personal needs and assist in their social, health, and hygiene needs.
- Support and work with the parents of children with SEND, developing good relationships and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Support for Teachers_
- Follow planning shared by class teachers and ensure that it is fully understood so that it can be delivered effectively to individuals and small groups of children.
- Work with team members in planning, evaluating, and adapting learning activities as appropriate.
- Be responsible for keeping and recording records as agreed with team members, including the class teacher.
- Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses and progress through observation and planned recording.
- Provide objective and accurate feedback regarding pupil progress.
- Support for the Curriculum_
- Implement agreed learning activities and adapt accordingly to meet children’s needs.
- Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses.
- Undertake programmes linked to local and national learning strategies (e.g., literacy, numeracy, KS1, early years), recording achievement and progress, and feeding back to the teacher.
- Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
- Prepare, maintain, and use equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assist pupils in their use.
- Support for the School_
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
- Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
- Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
- Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtime.
- Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips, and out-of-school activities as required and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher.
- Supervise children in the breakfast and after school clubs.
