Working within the Research and Development function, you will provide a key interface between the design and supply chain teams to facilitate new products into production and manage obsolescence challenges within existing ranges.

**Are you the right person for the job?**
- Technical experience in one or more of the following commodities; Electronic (Digital, Analogue, RF, Passive), Mechanical and Materials
- Product lifecycle Management system experience
- Good knowledge of supply base and preferred suppliers
- Computer literate in MS Office Applications as well as experience of gated electronic process flow systems, and MRP systems (SAP)
- Education to degree-level or engineering-related (Mechanical or Electrical) qualification
- Experience working within an electronic design & volume manufacturing environment

**What will your role as a Component Engineer look like?**
- Managing and maintaining a component approval process and database(s), including consolidation and improvement
- Ideally have experience with systems driven by WindmillPLM
- Support engineers with the identification of component parts required for new/existing product designs and manufacturing processes
- Based on their approval, create parts within the company’s parts system and maintain their status within
- Supplying component information/status to all areas of the business, managing data accuracy from internal & external inputs
- With Procurement, initiate and maintain supplier relationships to manage samples, pricing, technical specifications and external compliance
- Manage parts from specification, ensuring their approval status and coordinating availability within the product stage and gate development process, through to implementation for volume procurement
- Find alternative sources and component parts, evaluate and approve them in conjunction with the Design Engineer and Change Management
- Proactive in component cost reduction improvements
- Manage component/part obsolescence through knowledge of the supply base
