Do you want to be part of an innovative Tier 4 team which is vital to our transformation of Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) across Sussex ?
We have a vacancy for a Senior CAMHS Crisis Practitioner (Urgent Help Service). This role will focus on leading crisis support of young people, independently carrying out mental health assessments and developing intensive interventions in the community. The CAMHS Response Team is based at The Maudsley Hospital, Denmark Hill, London.
This varied role offers excellent opportunities to gain experience and skills in a variety of different settings.
The Senior CAMHS Crisis practitioner will be expected to work shifts within these times including weekends and Bank Holidays.
We are looking for a highly skilled, forward-thinking, creative and dynamic senior practitioner who has a passion for young person and family-centred care. You will be enthusiastic and resilient and be able to work with and respond to young people's needs creatively and flexibly.
To manage a crisis caseload of young people and their families and carers.
To co-ordinate and deliver individualised care packages / programmes for adolescents and their families and evaluate these programmes, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with national guidelines and trust policy.
To develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people and their families/carers.
To be able to assess and manage high-risk adolescent clients in a variety of settings, conduct risk assessments and formulate robust individualised and dynamic safety plans.
To independently undertake crisis mental health assessments in a variety of settings including Accident and Emergency departments out of hours and liaise with relevant individuals and agencies to promote a positive, safe and meaningful experience for the young person and their families
To be able to demonstrate the ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure taking into consideration the risks to clients, self and others and to be able to assess the often complex situations of these clients and their families.
To deliver evidence-based interventions and undertake routine outcome measures to monitor the quality of care provided, in keeping with the national CYPIAPT framework.

1. To manage a crisis caseload of young people and their families and carers.
2. To co-ordinate and deliver individualised care packages / programmes for adolescents and their families and evaluate these programmes, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with national guidelines and trust policy.
3. To develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people and their families/carers.
4. To work as part of the young person’s professional network, keeping them informed of developments, changes in risk status and promoting multi agency collaboration. Liaison with Children’s Specialist Services, Educational services, independent sector mental health providers, Social Care and counsellors and any other professional related to the childcare.
5. To involve the young person, and as appropriate, their families/carers in delivering programmes of care.
6. To be able to assess and manage high-risk adolescent clients in a variety of settings, conducting risk assessments and formulating safety plans.
7. To independently undertake crisis mental health assessments in a variety of settings including Accident and Emergency departments out of hours and liaise with relevant individuals and agencies to promote a positive, safe and meaningful experience for the young person and their families
8. To effectively and appropriately communicate these risks often under difficult, highly charged and emotional circumstances to medical staff, other professionals and families involved in the care of the client.
9. To act as an autonomous practitioner with an understanding of own limitations and recognition of when to seek support.
10. To play an active role in promoting mental health and well-being in young people and their families/carers.
11. To take an active part in multi-agency meetings. E.g. CPA Meetings, professional meetings and clinical team discussion
