A Research Fellow position is available on a part-time basis (0.60FTE/22.5 hours), for a period of 18 months within the Centre for Rehabilitation. The purpose of the role is to project manage the ‘BeActive-HF’ research study. This study is funded by Heart Research UK and involves the evaluation of a theory and evidence-informed behavioural intervention (BeActive-HF) that has been codesigned in collaboration with people with heart failure and clinicians involved with their care. The aim of the intervention is to increase uptake and engagement with cardiac rehabilitation, and to increase physical activity levels of people with heart failure. The intervention will be evaluated across three NHS hospital Trusts in the north-east of England.

The successful applicant will work under the direct supervision of Leah Avery, Professor of Applied Health Psychology, and will be a member of a wider multidisciplinary research team of medical and health professionals, exercise scientists, behavioural scientists, and intervention developers. There is flexibility in the role in terms of hybrid working and working pattern to support work-life balance.

The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory DBS disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of our clearance procedures.
