A fantastic opportunity has arisen to appoint band 5 Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners on permanent contracts within Think Wellbeing in Wigan Service.

Think Wellbeing is a well-established service that has a history of high performance in the IAPT sector and a reputation for providing various opportunities for staff to develop and maintain their own wellbeing. We pride ourselves on clinical excellence and to this end we provide one full session per week of protected CPD time for our staff as well as providing high quality supervision and guidance.

Situated in the North West of England, the service covers Wigan and Leigh area, and affords good transport links to both Manchester and Liverpool.

The post holder will work within Wigan Think Wellbeing Service providing low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) interventions to people experiencing common mental health problems.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and will be committed to equal opportunities.

- Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self management of their recovery, and appropriately signposts to additional or more appropriate support
- Undertake patient-centred interviews which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and make an informed assessment of risk to self and others
- Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high-volume low-intensity psychological interventions. This may include guided self-help computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone, group or via other media.
- Adhere to an agreed activity expectations relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, throughput, and outcomes in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible, efficient and effective.
- Take personal responsibility for achieving agreed clinical activity
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Trust.
- Maintain appropriate clinical records in keeping with service operational policy.
- Participate in setting and review of objectives for the post on an annual basis.
- Participate in activities of ‘continuing professional development’ (CPD) on an annual basis.
