**Head of Data - Fulfilment : London - Hatfield : Hybrid (2 days office)**

**About us**:
**About the role**:
Our data teams within the Fulfilment department research, design and build models and algorithms to optimise decisions. This covers areas across In-Store Fulfilment (where we continuously look for ways to further optimise manual order picking) and CFC (our highly automated fulfilment centres).

We’re looking for a ‘Head Of’ to lead the data work within the stream. This role will be responsible for the strategy and delivery of data science, analytics & engineering. They will work closely with engineering and product to make sure that data delivers the most amount of value possible and that the data team has a challenging and rewarding role to play. This mean that the role will be responsible for:

- Looking after all data work within the Fulfilment stream
- Focus on evangelising data and data science thinking and on supporting product in understanding where the biggest opportunities are
- Champions the streams Data needs (e.g. around tooling or resourcing) to the horizontal structures
- Line manages the Data Team Leaders (currently one data engineering team, two data analytics teams and one data science team)
- Represent data as part of the Fulfilment Senior Leadership Team (Engineering Director, Product Director and the Heads of Engineering and Heads of Product for the three departments in the stream)

**What we’re looking for**:

- In-depth knowledge of data processes and how data science/machine learning can add incredible value to an organisation
- Good understanding of data engineering and data modelling principles
- Ability to drive a data strategy to capture the right data and build the right metrics that will help product management make the right decisions (e.g. identifying improvement opportunities, prioritising feature development, testing ideas and measuring improvements after release)
- Good understanding of machine learning as well as operations research
- Experience with managing the whole data science lifecycle
- Proactive problem solver comfortable with ambiguity
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, to influence but also to listen
- Facilitate the continuous improvement of the team with mentoring, coaching, 1:1s and feedback; create and lead a happy, high performing team of world class Analysts
- Encourage knowledge sharing initiatives and help build the data science community
- Strong communicator who is also adept in data storytelling
