**Who We Are**
Applecross is a family run care home. We care for elderly residents and also have three specialist units that care for younger people. Since 1997, Applecross has provided expert care for people with physical disabilities and other illnesses that require short-term or long-term nursing support
**Who You Are**
You are a practical, detail-driven hospitality professional who leads by example. You don’t just set standards — you live them. You understand that in a care home setting, a warm, clean, dignified environment makes all the difference. You’re confident working alongside staff, supporting residents, and making sure every dining room, lounge, and shared space feels like home.
This is not an office-based position. You’ll be regularly present on the floor — supporting the team, setting up for meals, checking cleanliness, resolving small issues before they become big ones, and demonstrating what “good” looks like in every aspect of hospitality. Your presence sets the tone.
**Key Responsibilities**
- IPC Leadership (Infection Prevention & Control) Actively implement the Care Home Infection Prevention and Control Manual (CH IPCM) in hospitality areas. Ensure communal spaces, dining areas, and lounges meet cleanliness standards — working directly with housekeeping and care staff to maintain compliance.
- Environmental Quality Take ownership of the look, feel, and cleanliness of all hospitality areas. Ensure environments are welcoming, clutter-free, and aligned with our vision of quality care.
- Liaison & Collaboration Work closely with other department heads — including clinical staff, activities coordinators, kitchen, and housekeeping — to ensure a joined-up approach to resident wellbeing and satisfaction
- Work Alongside the Team Support staff during key service times (e.g., mealtimes, events), ensuring standards are maintained and staff feel confident. This includes cleaning, table setting, food presentation, and engagement with residents.
- Training & Mentoring Train, mentor, and coach staff on hospitality and environmental expectations. Lead by example and support ongoing learning.
- Dining Experience & Food Service Partner with the Head Chef and Kitchen Team to deliver excellent food service. Set and uphold table layouts, service styles, and presentation standards that create dignified, homely mealtime experiences.
- Resident Feedback & Personalisation Actively seek feedback from residents and families to tailor hospitality services. Recognise that small touches often have the biggest impact.
- Stock & Budget Oversight Ensure hospitality supplies (linens, tableware, cleaning products, etc.) are stocked and used efficiently within budget.
**What We’re Looking For**
- Experience: Demonstrated background in hospitality leadership (hotel or care setting). Floor-based team leadership essential.
- Standards-Driven: Passionate about the details — from how a table is laid to how a lounge smells and feels.
- Hands-On Leadership: Willing and able to work shoulder-to-shoulder with staff, lead by example, and solve issues on the floor.
- Collaborative Style: Comfortable working across departments to deliver seamless care and hospitality.
- Strong Communicator: Able to give clear direction and positive feedback to staff and residents alike.
- Flexible & Proactive: Willing to work varied shifts (including some weekends and holidays) and adapt to changing needs on the ground.
**Why Join Us?**
We are redefining hospitality in social care. As our Hospitality Specialist, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking team committed to dignity, comfort, and resident wellbeing. You’ll have the authority to shape how the home looks and feels — and the support to make real changes.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to £13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
Work Location: In person
