**What are we looking for in our Community Outreach Wellbeing Worker?**
We are looking for a motivated, passionate, and empathetic individual to help us more effectively support racialised communities. You will do this by building positive professional relationships and earning trust with communities, community representatives and expert organisations, sharing the learning from this and using it to develop and improve services. You will share our commitment to working in a co-productive way, meaning that we make changes _with_ people, rather than _to_ them, and believe that change should be led by the people it concerns. You will hold the position that people are the experts in their own lives as you listen and learn about what support is needed and how we can help. You will be part of an experienced and supportive team and want to make a positive difference in people’s lives by empowering them to learn tools and strategies to improve their wellbeing.
*
The key responsibilities of the Community Outreach Wellbeing Worker*
- Proactively engage with people from racialised communities including those with lived experience of racism and mental health problems, grassroots organisations, key community members and others.
- Develop a wide knowledge of the local communities we seek to serve, paying particular attention to groups who are currently under-represented in our service user population.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of the range of services offered by Oxfordshire Mind and local partners delivering support for mental wellbeing, to be able to make appropriate referrals and signpost effectively, and also promote and publicise Oxfordshire Mind’s service offer at meetings and community events.
- In collaboration with communities and with the Locality Manager, develop, maintain and facilitate a broad range of appropriate and responsive wellbeing interventions - driven by the aspirations of communities but likely to include Peer Support Groups (groups where people support each other on their wellbeing journeys) and short courses/workshops
- Make use of opportunities to share learning with colleagues, including across the Wellbeing Service, Innovation Team and wider organisation, particularly our Equity Diversity Inclusion and Equality Lead.
**Direct frontline support**
- Work flexibly as part of the wider Wellbeing Service including taking calls on our Information Line (our phone line service providing advice or support) and organising our Options Session rota if required
- Work with individuals to identify their own hopes and goals, supporting them to develop a personal action plan to increase resilience and maintain wellbeing and then to review progress.
**We expect all of our employees to**:
- Understand and implement all safeguarding policies and procedures in relation to working with children, young people and adults at risk of harm
- Enhance equity, diversity, inclusion and equality within our work
- Involve people with lived experience of mental health problems in every aspect of our work
- Attend regular meetings and supervision as required
This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be required to perform activities not listed here. This job description covers the current range of duties and will be reviewed from time to time. It is Oxfordshire Mind’s aim to reach agreement on changes, but if agreement is not possible, Oxfordshire Mind reserves the right to change this job description.
