Letchmore Heath, United Kingdom IGD Full time

Are you passionate about putting users first and designing solutions that make their lives easier? Hybrid working.

**About the UX Designer role**

IGD interacts with thousands of people worldwide through its website. From marketing its products and services, to selling events and delivering valuable and insightful content, the website does a lot of heavy lifting. That’s why we want to make it a friction-freeand enjoyable experience for everyone who uses it. Why? Because if our users are happy, they’ll be more likely to do more business with us.

As UX Designer, you will develop IGD’s UX function and lead the research and design of website solutions that meet both user and business needs. From micro-interactions such as buttons to full user journeys across multiple pages, you will be the person whorepresents the user, is passionate about every interaction they have online, and design feasible, viable and desirable solutions to their problems - while uncovering new opportunities along the way. You’ll work with stakeholders around the business, collaboratingwith them in the process, incorporating their needs, and securing buy-in for your proposed solutions. You’ll also work with designers, content managers and developers to make your solutions a reality.

**The UX Designer's responsibilities**

Reporting into the Head of Design, these include:
Developing the UX function

IGD is in the early stages of its UX journey. You’ll have the experience, confidence and communication skills to establish UX design in the business and demonstrate to colleagues the value it brings in looking after customers and helping the business grow.

Leading a robust programme of user research

UX design is a research-based discipline. You will develop, organise and lead a rolling programme of research to uncover user issues and opportunities that our business can benefit from by solving. Using a variety of quantitative research techniques (suchas surveys and analytics) and qualitative research techniques (such as interviews and usability tests), you will uncover the data we need that will drive design and development work for our website. You will engage key teams around the business to help drawinsight from the research findings and achieve common understanding and agreement as to the actions to be taken.

Documenting user journeys and designing prototypes

The UX Designer will get deep into the detail of the journeys users take, no matter how big or small the project is you are working on. By building user journey documentation, you’ll help keep all teams focused on the problems that need solving. And throughan excellent command of XD/Figma (and other relevant design tools) you’ll design and create working prototypes and wireframes that give developers all the info they need to code the solutions.

Excellent communication with colleagues

Website development involves lots of teams and decision-makers. You’ll play a pivotal role in understanding both user needs and business needs, and communicating clearly and concisely with colleagues throughout each stage of the design process so that everyoneunderstands what we are trying to solve, how we propose to solve it and is bought in. This will include organising and leading meetings, inspiring colleagues, and presenting to the wider business and board.

Staying up-to-date with best practices

It’s a fast-moving world, and we want to be at the cutting-edge where possible. You will routinely research what is best practice in user experience design and bring that into your working processes. And you will maintain a sound understanding of user interfacebest practice and work closely with other designers and developers to ensure our sites are at the forefront of functionality and aesthetics.

**What you bring**
- Demonstrable experience and success in all aspects of the UX design process - from gathering data to collaborating with stakeholders to designing working solutions
- Passion to uncover 'user truths’ and use data to drive decisions, rather than opinions
- A proactive nature, can-do attitude and desire and ability to inspire colleagues and bring them on the journey with you
- Excellent command of UX design software (we currently use Adobe XD on Windows hardware, but are open to alternatives)
- Flexibility and ability to work in an agile way, particularly with teams that work in sprints (e.g. IT), matched with thoroughness and organisation with documentation
- Leadership ambition - and the skills needed to bring people together and inspire them, see the big picture and help shape our customer experience strategy, and to mentor and develop junior designers
- Knowledge of coding languages and practices is a plus, as is the ability to help out with UI design suggestions when needed

**The rewards**

We offer a range of benefits, including a market leading pension, a bonus scheme, the ability to buy and sell annual leave plus a generous medical insurance package

At IGD, we have a great work-life balance, where you are empowered & trusted to manage your time.

**The location**

We are operating a hybrid approach to working with a mix of home and office-based working, agreed with your line manager. We are based in a very accessible location within the M25, just 20 miles from central London.

**More about our people**

We’re looking for inspiring professionals; talented people who seek personal and career growth and are ambitious to develop their potential and unlock opportunities for society, for our customers and themselves.
