**JOB SUMMARY**

As a Tax Associate you are responsible for the preparation of tax returns and accounts within the personal tax department. You will look after a portfolio of 150 clients, with the majority of these being sole traders (other clients include landlords and retirees). You will also assist the Senior Manager in preparation work which could include up to a further 100 returns. You will manage your workload to ensure that you deliver to deadlines and against client expectations. You will have the support of the Senior Tax Manager to ensure the delivery of the personal tax service, on time and with accuracy.

**TEAM STRUCTURE**

You will work collaboratively with the tax team; reporting upwards on activity and developments to your line manager. You will have regular one to one support to help you develop into the role. You will work closely with the wider business and all teams within Z group to grow your influence and deliver the company values.

**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Collate relevant records and income tax details from clients
- Preparation of returns for the Senior Managers review
- Some bookkeeping
- Dealing with client queries outside of their tax returns, this includes liaising with HMRC or other third parties.
- Responsible for billing and internal administration
- Preparation work to assist the Senior Managers portfolio

- Able to prepare personal tax returns, additional tax schedules and working papers
- Motivated and enjoys working within a multicultural team
- Process driven with a strong attention to detail, accuracy and a concern for order
- A positive approach with the ability to build effective working relationships
- Sense of urgency, good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
- Trustworthy and reliable

**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:

- ATT Qualified (Desirable)
- Sound personal tax knowledge, gained in practice
- Proven technical knowledge and understanding of key tax elements
- Able to use IRIS, or similar for accounts production and personal taxation
- A proven understanding of income tax and self-assessment for individuals, sole traders and partnerships
- A basic understanding of capital gains tax
- Confident communication written skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
