This is a new role within the College IT team, due to the team’s growth and the college's focus of their cyber security stance. This is a real opportunity to make the role your own and set the baseline

Job Title**:IT Security & Compliance Officer**
Location: Middlesbrough

**Salary**: Negotiable
Hours: 37 hours per week
**Strategic Objectives**:

- To actively contribute to the Strategic Plan and in particular the ambition to become an outstanding provider of education and training.
- To commit to the Safeguarding Policy and promote a safe environment for children, young people, and vulnerable adults within the College.

**Specifically, the post holder's responsibilities will be as follows**:

- Conducting and documenting regular internal audits with all functions within the organisation to ensure working practices align with the CIPHR policy set
- Working in coordination with the IT Manager, help manage the external audit processes that Digital Services undertake and ensure compliance against the scope of any such audit
- Regularly reviewing the information security policy set and making improvements and updates where appropriate
- Periodically reviewing processes within the business to ensure that information security is maintained to an appropriate level throughout
- Participate in the Major Incident Process response
- Assess each Non-Standard Request, working with other teams within IT Services if necessary
- Be the technical lead for IT projects as required
- Actively support the implementation of the digital strategy for the College
- Working in coordination with the IT Manager, ensure the College implements and maintains the highest industry standards to achieve necessary accreditations such as Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001/9001
- Manage the identification and implementation of suitable information security metrics and measures to evaluate information security performance
- Collecting and analysing information security metrics and data and prepare reports required for senior management, regulators, and other relevant stakeholders
- Monitor and report on compliance with information security policies, standards, processes, and procedures
- Be responsible for administering and maintaining the security suite for the site and all systems including M365 and ensuring alerts and warnings are correctly actioned
- Be responsible for ensuring proactive maintenance to all key systems is performed, ensuring specifically that they are patched and updated on a recorded regular schedule. This also includes ensuring daily checks are performed on key systems to increaseuptime for the end-user
- Be responsible for managing the compliance and governance module within M365, adhering, where reasonably practicable, to recommended actions
- Help manage the Vulnerability and Risk registers, i.e., identification, documentation, risk asset and remediation
- Create and deliver information security training and awareness content to employees of the business
- Providing information security compliance support, advice, and guidance to all Digital Services teams
- Establishing information security monitoring arrangements for new services / programmes / projects ensuring that information security controls effectiveness is monitored and improve
- Adhere to the change control process for changes to live systems

**To be considered for this fantastic opportunity you will have**:

- Ability to diagnose and rectify basic software faults - Essential
- Be able to work flexible hours and locations as required - Essential
- 1 Years’ experience working in an equivalent IT role - Desirable
- Experience of working within an IT Department providing service to a variety of customer areas - Desirable.
- Experience of using Service Desk software systems and working to Service Level Agreements - Desirable.
- Experience of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Framework - Desirable.
- Experience of supporting and maintaining an Office 365 tenant at an administrative level - Desirable
- Experience of administering an ITSM ticketing system to ensure incidents and requests are dealt with in line with SLA and to a high standard
- Desirable

**Knowledge & Skills**:

- Providing 2nd line support to incidents and requests logged via a ITSM ticketing system
- Provide technical assistance in relation to project management support
- Understanding of the requirements of Cyber Essentials +
- Supporting Audio Visual technology
- Providing administrative support across an Office 365 platform
- Hold a full current driving licence - Desirable

**Qualifications**
- Grade C or above in Maths or English (or equivalent) - Essential
- Relevant IT qualification at Level 2 - Essential
- ITIL v3 Foundation or above - Desirable
