We are an online based company, with always expanding customer base and we require a **Buying Assistant** to join our Supply team for a full-time contract within the company.
We are looking for a highly motivated, highly organised, and willing to learn individual. This is a great role for someone wanting to pursue a career in Procurement, together with their **retail / commercial experience**. This role will support the supply team to be functioning efficiently and maintain a high level of quality in regards to purchasing process, product categories & ranges, ensuring cost effectiveness wherever possible.
This role is on-site, based at our office and warehouse in Littlehampton.
Monday-Friday: 08:30 - 17:00; 37.5 hours per week.
Salary starting from £22,000pa (dependant on experience).
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Be commercially aware and to establish strong working relationships with suppliers
- Sourcing the best products & establish the best price from the most suitable supplier
- Setting up products and new suppliers
- Planning, placing, and negotiating purchase orders for immediate and long term scheduled orders
- Ensure cost effectiveness wherever possible when buying in bulk
- Liaising with the Warehouse Manager to optimise stock arrivals
- Uploading products to our system, monitor and improve all product information
- Pricing and Product management
- Review ranges and product categories for our RETAIL & TRADE websites, ensure pricing is accurate and in line with company's objectives
- Working closely with suppliers & manufacturers, negotiate better prices
- Finding promotional items throughout the year so we can offer discounted products to our customer
- Attend to various events with suppliers and manufacturers throughout the year
- Travelling is required for training at our Dorset office with the Supply Manager
**Who are we looking for?**
This is a busy, hands-on role - **experience in a buying or commercial role is required (retail and/or trade). ** You must be able to demonstrate strong time-management skills, the ability to prioritise tasks and work well under pressure always with attention to detail.
A good knowledge of Excel is a prerequisite. Full training will be given on our ERP system, although knowledge of Akeneo/PIM would be excellent. Finally, a willingness to learn and the ambition to grow the role.
We are looking for a confident individual to fit in with our always expanding team, that has:
- Good understanding of supply chain process
- Retail experience & Product category experience
- Knowledge in product management and stock procurement based on forecasts
- The ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
- Accuracy with strong attention to detail
- Very clear verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills
- experience and ability to produce and analyse various reports for the management
- Computer Literacy, Microsoft Excel - essential; ERP system - essential, stock analysis - ideally.
**Other aspects of the role**
This role will be based at our Littlehampton office with occasional travel, therefore a full driving licence, and ability to travel is essential. For the first few months, weekly travelling to our Dorset office is required, for training with the Supply Manager and the team.
