**About the job**:
Luton Governor Services are looking for individuals to become school governors. You would be part of a friendly and supportive team of governors who contribute greatly to the continued success of each school.
Governors are people like you - you do not need to be a parent, but you do need to be over 18 and have a passion about improving the standard of education for all pupils in Luton schools. Any additional skills you have in either your work or family life is a bonus.
This is a voluntary role and you will be fully trained and supported throughout - meetings are generally held in the evenings and are a mixture of face to face and online.
School Governors work together to carry out their core functions:
- ensuring there is clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils and the performance management of staff
- overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
Governors must also ensure that the governing body complies with all legal and statutory requirements.
