**Job Summary**:
- To maintain practical care skills along with relevant knowledge by undertaking training and development opportunities, specific/specialised training as needed to meet clients needs, wishes and expectations, current best practice, regulatory requirements in a cost effective and efficient manner.
- Please note in addition to these requirements support workers may be required to carry out other duties relevant to the clients needs and best interests.
**Main Duties**
- To support the client with all moving and handling tasks, maintenance of their home, equipment and care of their animals if required.
- To support with all personal care needs and all activities of daily living the client requires support to achieve.
- To remain up to date with all mandatory and specialist training required to meet the client’s needs.
- To provide a positive an effective approach to the clients identified and assessed needs, the wishes and expectations of the client’s family and others who care about them.
- To assist in the induction of new to post and other support workers and the development of a service which always reflects best practice and a commitment to an ever standard of care as necessary.
- To report to the employer as necessary, follow direct instructions and complete tasks set by the employer, client and staff to ensure an effective working environment.
- To be an active and positive member of the team, work collaboratively with staff, client, employer and other professionals.
- To seek opportunities to develop the knowledge and skill with which to meet the clients needs, wishes and expectations.
- To maintain a positive approach to the philosophy which underpins the care and support provided.
- To support and contribute to the development of the service provided and assist in the reporting, resolution of any issues which may occur.
- To work in an effective and purposeful manner to minimise any risks to the client, yourself, others and of the service provided.
- To assist in the assessment of the client’s needs and facilitate their ability to communicate their needs, wishes and expectations.
- To ensure the clients needs influence and inform all care and support provided, they are kept safe, and their rights and interests are always protected.
- To maintain an accurate record of all care and support provided and contribute to the review of all care and support plans, risk assessments, policies and procedures.
- To follow relevant government, NHS, NICE and all other guidance as necessary.
**Experience**;
**Essential**:
- To have a minimum of 12 months paid support worker experience in a UK company.
**Desirable ** - Have worked with complex healthcare needs, such as brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, learning disabilities etc.
**Skills, knowledge and competencies.**
**Essential ** - To be casual but professional appearance and work flexibly over rotas.
Computer literacy
Willing to learn and engage in training.
Communicate effectively with clients, families, staff and other professionals involved.
Good written and communication skills.
Able to work on own initiative and unsupervised.
Demonstrate good organisational skills.
Able to maintain confidentiality and diplomacy.
To work effective within a team and have team working skills.
**Desirable ** - Previous complex care experience or minimum of 12 month paid support work in a UK company.
To be able to drive/travel to client’s homes.
**Specific to the job**
**Essential ** - Able to drive a car.
Able to cover flexible hours to cover rotas.
Able to work in the UK.
Eligible for DBS check that is satisfactory to the employer.
**Desirable ** - Full clean drivers’ licence.
**Job Type**: Zero hours contract
Pay: £13.00-£16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 - 50 per week
