**This role**

We have a **full time** position in the Morpeth area, where we support two brothers who live independently.

We are looking for someone to join the permanent team here, to build professional relationships with the people we support in order to deliver the highest quality care.

The people you will be supporting have a diagnosis of a learning disability. Both men enjoy leading fulfilling lives and enjoy Swimming, cinema, theatre, horse riding as well as mini overnight breaks and holidays. The men are looking for people who are fun, friendly and enjoy being active within the community. We are looking for people who will encourage the men in all aspects of their lives on a daily basis.

A **sample shift pattern** may be working 2-3 days out of 7 days, including weekends.

Majority of shifts start at 10am and always include a sleepover then finish at 10am the following morning. There is also a 2pm start and a 3pm start on two of the days due to the people attending a day service.

This role would suit someone that enjoys providing a caring and inspiring environment for the people we support by ensuring they have regular activities and social outings.

The people we support at this location enjoy music / swimming / community groups / going for walks and you would have the outgoing and energetic personality to encourage that.

You’ll be passionate about making a difference to the lives of people we support. You will work as part of a team of support workers striving to make experiences and situations positive, promoting the individual choice and independence of the people we support. This will include developing community links and relationships, volunteering opportunities and life skills. If you have experience in a care or support role, this is a benefit, but we will also provide training to people new to a career in social care.

You will need basic IT skills, and we will provide the required training to support you in role.

What would you be doing?

As a Support Workeryou would have a varied role, supporting individuals with a learning disability. You would be responsible for:

- Encouraging independence
- Supporting people to participate in hobbies, activities and the community
- Supporting people to manage their health needs and liaising with health professionals.
- Supporting people to manage their own homes.
- Developing the life skills of the people we support
- Assisting with personal finances
- Support with personal hygiene
- Supporting with medication
- Providing advice and problem solving when required.
