**Migrant Help **are currently looking for **Support Assistants** to join our resourceful and compassionate **Refugee resettlement team **based in** Watford (Hybrid working).** You will be joining us on a full time, permanent and in return you will receive a competitive salary of **£24,603 Increasing to £27,700 per annum,** following the successful completion of a 6 months probation period.

**The Support Assistant role**:
The scope of this role is to work as part of the Migrant Help Refugee Resettlement team which provides specialised advice and integration support to refugees resettling in the UK. As the Refugee Resettlement Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role within the service by providing light-touch, continued support to refugees who have reached a level of stability and independence. You will ensure the ongoing integration and well-being of clients by conducting periodic check-ins, addressing emerging issues, and facilitating access to community resources and services.
**Key responsibilities of our Support Assistant**:
- Conduct periodic assessments to ensure clients' continued progress and identify any new or emerging needs
- Provide tailored advice and support on an ongoing basis, ensuring clients are well-integrated into their communities
- Assist clients with accessing ongoing services such as healthcare, education, and employment
- Facilitate client referrals to specialised services as needed, maintaining strong connections with local service providers
- Conduct regular check-ins with clients through home visits, phone calls, or digital communications
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and records, ensuring all interactions and interventions are documented
- Provide emotional support and practical advice to clients, helping them navigate cultural and systemic challenges
- Organise and participate in community activities and events to promote social integration and community cohesion
- Collaborate with interpreters, volunteers, and other team members to deliver comprehensive and effective support
- Conduct property inspections and ensure clients' living conditions meet safety and health standards
- Respond promptly to emergencies and urgent client needs, coordinating with relevant services as necessary
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development activities
- Provide feedback and report on client progress to supervisors and relevant stakeholders
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their needs and rights are recognised and addressed by service providers and authorities
- Work closely with Tier 1 Advisers to facilitate the smooth transition of clients from intensive to lighter support
- Contribute to the facilitation of group workshops on various topics, such as budgeting, job search skills, and understanding UK systems and culture
**Skills and experience we are looking for in our Support Assistant**:
- Awareness of cultural sensitivity and competence in working with diverse populations
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and approaches to supporting individuals who have experienced significant trauma with proficiency in safeguarding practices and procedures
- Demonstrable experience in a support or advisory role, preferably within refugee resettlement or social services
- Ability to think critically and creatively to solve problems and address the unique challenges faced by refugees
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders
