Simply Education is excited to be working with a local school in Ellesmere Port that shares our values and commitment to helping students achieve their full potential. We are seeking an outstanding Learning Mentor to work with this school to support the fantastic teachers in their work and provide consistency and stability for their students. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping students aged between 8-16 to develop and grow, supporting them in their academic studies and wider life skills.

This school takes a child-centred approach to learning, working with each individual student to understand their current needs and interests, and developing an education plan that suits them best. All students have an EHCP in place, and you will work with teachers to support students to build on their prior knowledge and plug any gaps in their learning.

In addition to academic studies, this school is dedicated to providing students with the experiences, life skills, and knowledge they need to be successful in their futures. This includes practical skills such as cooking and financial knowledge, as well as social skills and emotional support.

The ideal Learning Mentor for this role will have experience working in education, be comfortable contributing to the school and classroom values and ethos and be committed to supporting students with social emotional and mental health needs. You will have excellent communication skills, be adaptable and flexible, and have a passion for helping young people to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

- To support students to access their learning.
- Support the students to become re-engaged with their learning.
- Model and promote high behaviour expectations.
- Communicate effectively and build rapport and common interests with the students to inspire and motivate them.
- To prepare the students for life beyond school.

Key Requirements:

- An understanding of SEMH needs
- Knowledge and understanding of vocational education.
- Strong communication skills.
- Resilience and the ability to model and promote high behaviour expectations.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Driving license and access to own transport is desirable.
