TEC Partners have partnered with an exciting cultivated meat technology business that is working towards making lab-grown meat a reality. A group of talented scientists and engineers is focusing on developing sustainable, animal and planet-friendly meatusing their innovative cell multiplication technology.

Originating from the University of Oxford, the company is based in the same city and is aiming to become the UK's leader of lab-grown meat. With their novel technology, they are able to grow cells from just a small animal sample into fat or muscle tissuesthat are just like regular meat, having total control of what goes into every product. Currently in the R&D stage, they have ambitious plans for the near future that will change the way we eat meat forever.

They are looking for a Scientist to join their Culture Media team to help with the development and production of different tissue cells from stem cells.

**Minimum requirements**
- Some post-doctoral or industrial experience in cell biology, process development, process upstreaming

**Necessary experience**
- Extensive experience in cell process development with strong knowledge of cell biology, biochemistry, and cell metabolism
- Industrial experience in upstream process development, working with bioreactors, scale-up of the process
- Experience in cell culture which includes serum-free culture medium, and media development
- Troubleshooting multi-factorial experiments
- Culture characterisation and process optimisation
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a growing team, as well as confidence working individually

**Desirable experience**
- Stem and primary cell culture
- Statistical experimental design, data analysis, multi-step optimisation
- Suspension of 3D cell culture
- Metabolic analysis and optimisation of cell culture medium and processes
- SOP writing experience

**Responsibilities**
- Design, plan and carry out complex R&D experiments within set timelines
- Develop, optimise, and analyse cell culture medium to achieve the most efficient cell conversion into muscle or fat cells
- Optimise processes to improve primary stem cell proliferation in vitro
- Document experiments and results in an electronic lab book
- Follow and adapt experimental protocols and generate SOPs
- Attend group meetings, prepare and deliver presentations to the team and stakeholders
- Provide routine laboratory maintenance, equipment upkeep, manage laboratory consumables stock
- Share the responsibility for out-of-hours maintenance of cell cultures
- Ensure health and safety in the laboratory
- Keep up to date with current technologies and scientific literature for the new possible opportunities and improvements in the technology
