To clean and service college rooms using agreed methods and procedures: ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is achieved and maintained.
**Working Hours**
Part-Time 12 hours per week over 2 days. Extra hours may be available on occasion.
Based in Cambridge close to the Rail Station, St Andrew’s College is looking to appoint a Housekeeping Assistant to join our busy, friendly college providing a first-class service for our college community.
- An ability to clean and service college rooms using agreed methods and procedures: ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is achieved and maintained.
- Be able to manage their own workload and demonstrate excellent time management skills
- Work individually or a part of a team and have a flexible approach to work
**Records, Duties and Tasks**:
- To clean and service college rooms, bathrooms and communal areas ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is achieved and always maintained.
- To undertake spring cleaning/ deep cleaning activities as and when required and to agreed standards.
- To observe and report any maintenance defects in accordance with college processes.
- To observe and adhere to security procedures in relation to keys, property of students,
and property of the college.
- To be aware of the action to be taken in the event of fire or any other emergency situations
and carry out that action in event of such.
- To be aware of and comply with college policies including safeguarding and health and safety
- To carry out any reasonable task as requested by your manager, or any member of the
College Management.
**Safeguarding Responsibilities**
St Andrews is committed to its responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students in line with government recommendations and policies. Due to this, all staff at the college have a responsibility for safeguarding and reporting any concerns regarding students to the DSL. All staff will undergo appropriate training.

**Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience**:
Previous cleaning experience would be an advantage but is not essential. In-house training on the specific cleaning requirements of the boarding houses will be provided. Further training will be given on the following:
- Correct use of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Fire Training.
- Health & Safety
- Safeguarding
- Manual Handling
- First Aid
**Skills, Abilities and Competencies**:
- The nature of the job will entail contact with students, visitors, and work colleagues, therefore an ability to communicate well is essential.
- the ability to work to independently and to deadlines is required
**Working Requirements**:
- Attend work punctually and work agreed hours
- Present smartly and use appropriate PPE
- On rare occasions some weekend work may be required
**Terms & Conditions**
1. Remuneration: £11.50 per hour plus % holiday pay
2. Holiday entitlement: 5.6 Weeks Holiday pay pro rata to hours worked
3. Notice period: 2 weeks
4. Probationary period: 6 months reviewable at the discretion of the college
5. Pension: Inclusion in the St Andrews Auto Enrolment Pension Plan
6. Training: Commitment to ongoing training for safeguarding, health, and safety,
COSHH and any other relevant training courses
