Clerk of Works

We are looking for a Clerk of Works with either a Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) or Civil Engineering experience to join our project in the Southwest where we are a delivery partner on a key infrastructure project. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in one of the most complex and challenging projects in the UK today, where you will be responsible for successful handover of the complete construction at site level.

As a Clerk of Works you will represent the interests of the client by undertaking checks on materials and workmanship to ensure they are in accordance with the design.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Check, monitor and document the quality of products and the build process to ensure adherence to the design and specification
- Ensure delivery of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) performance in line with project targets
- Assist in the resolution of technical issues and design queries as they arise
- Attending team and site meetings
- Proposing solutions and alternatives when issues are encountered
- Coordinating and arranging service and utility isolations
- Assisting with the compilation of defect lists and progressing their completion to a satisfactory conclusion
- Keeping a watching brief over contractors while working with permits to excavate in the location of high voltage cables, gas mains and other sensitive services and utilities
- Monitoring the testing and commissioning of installed equipment
- Interfacing with and providing advice on project Quality related matters
- Preparing reports for inspections, audits and provide regular project Quality updates

**About you**
- Relevant experience in undertaking MEICA/Civil Engineering inspections on large infrastructure projects
- Competent in handling complex rapidly changing situations independently
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of acting competently, decisively, and quickly on Quality related issues
- Thorough knowledge of the quality system requirements of ISO 9001
- Good working knowledge of computer based systems, such as Microsoft Office

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline or relevant experience
- Experience delivering quality on major infrastructure contracts
- Nuclear sector experience preferred
- ISO9001:2015 trained Auditor (Registered Lead Auditor preferred)
