Research and Development Technician Great Yarmouth Full Time - Permanent Salary DOE Our client, a successful oil field equipment supplier, have a new and exciting opportunity for a Research and Development Technician at their site based in Great Yarmouth. This is a perfect chance for someone from a semi-skilled engineering background tokick start their career in the Oil and Gas sector in a diverse and interesting role. **Principal purposes and objectives of the job** - To develop new products through to production implementation. - Continuous development and improvement of existing products. - Support all areas of the business in "special projects" outside of normal operations. **Key tasks / key result area statements (KRAs)** - Support R&D team for all development activities. Working closely with Lead R&D Engineer, R&D and Engineering Managers. - Report findings and update R&D notes, team members to support design files and Engineering Change Notes. - Conduct failure analysis and investigate problems in conjunction with test procedures. - Support the development of R&D test procedures and methods. - Analyse opportunities for improvements in all areas of the department. - Supervise and carry out qualifications. - Support pilot productions runs and hand overs into production. - Assist with implementation of production and training for new products into production. - Assist with implementation of required tooling for new variants and processes. - Update production process instructions where needed. - Support the facilities pressure test and Data Acquisition (DAQ) equipment where required. Including regular assessments. - To be able to accurately follow instructions / drawings / procedures to achieve the desired result. **Skills Required**: - HNC qualified or equivalent technical experience. - Able to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings. - 1-2 years of experience working in a hands-on role. - Enthusiastic team player with desire to learn, progress and try new ideas. - Good use of computer and Microsoft packages. - Hands on, natural tinkerer with a passion for engineering and innovation. - Able to use workshop production equipment eg manual lathes, drill etc. - Fundamental electronic/electrical knowledge. Basic wiring techniques. **Additional training required over time (if applicable)** - **BOSIET/MIST**: For offshore surveys and installations. - **CAD**: Drawing and modelling. - **Microsoft office**: Internal training of Word and Excel where needed. - **Engineering Methods**: Guidance on basic engineering tasks including but not limited to: O-Ring selection, pressure calcs and alternative manufacturing methods. - **DAQ**: Software training for both production and R&D data acquisition. - **FLT**: Up to date for lift ticket. - **CRYO test and storage**: Basic training to be conducted over production session and potentially offsite. - **Working at height**:For Scaffolding and Manifold testing. - **IOSH/Risk assessments**:for all testing activities. - **Pressure testing**:internal training and assessment. - **Crane operator**(Lola). - **Abrasive wheels** **Should you feel you have the relevant skills and experience and the right drive to succeed in this role, please send your CV or call our branch on.
