Lunchtime Assistant

Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep School is a selective, independent day school for approximately 230 pupils across two sites. The Pre-Prep is accommodated in its own attractive Edwardian buildings on Wensleydale Road, and the style of the property helps to create a secure and homely feeling for the children in this early, yet, formative stage of their schooling. The Prep, on Gloucester Road, was completely rebuilt in February 2016.

**Position**:
We are seeking a fixed-term term time only Lunchtime Assistant to join our happy and forward-thinking school.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to care for and supervise our children during the lunchtime period. Applicants ideally need to have previous experience of working in this environment or a passion for working with children. They need to be able to work on their own initiative, be organised and methodical in their approach, cheerful, well-presented, and be prepared to assist with appropriate tasks as directed.

Enthusiasm, flexibility, self-motivation, interpersonal skills and being able to work in a team are also essential for this key role in our friendly school. A good rapport with the children is also essential.

On a daily basis the School Lunchtime Supervisor is responsible to the Head of Pre-Prep.

We are one form entry at Hampton Pre-Prep, with a maximum of 22 children in each class. We follow both the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, but as an independent school have the privileged freedom to enhance our curriculum offer as we see fit.

The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday 11.30am - 1.15pm during term time. Holidays cannot be taken during term time.

The role is based at Hampton Pre-Prep and the salary will be based on the Hampton School Scale for Support Staff. The rate of pay will be £13.15 per hour (including holiday pay). We operate an induction and mentoring programme for all colleagues new to the School.

**Requirements**:
**The principle duties are set out below, however, please note the employee may be called on to perform other tasks as directed by the Head of Pre-Prep, Deputy Head Pastoral, Deputy Head Academic, Headmaster, Deputy Bursar, or anyone acting on their behalf.
- Supervising children in the dining room and assisting with the serving of food and maintaining Health and Safety standards
- Being responsible for pupils in the hall, playground and classrooms during their daily lunch break
- Organising games and activities for the pupils during this time
- Overseeing sensible use of the playground equipment
- Taking
