**Job Title**: Playgroup Assistant

**Start Date** March 2025

**Hours of Work**: Monday - Friday (8.30am - 12.30pm)

**Salary**: Rates of pay depending on qualifications and experience. In line with NJC recommendations

**Responsible to**: Playgroup Leader

**Criteria**

Applicants must demonstrate how they meet the following criteria.

**Essential**

NVQ level 2/3 qualified in childcare education or equivalent.

And
- One years experience working with children in a play, education or day care setting.

**Desirable**
- Experience in working with children who have additional needs
- First Aid certification

**Responsibilities**

1. To support the child by preparing appropriate activities which will promote the child’s development and learning.

2. To implement individual programmes. This will involve writing or contributing to individual education plans, meeting with parents and discussing how plans are to be implemented.

3. To assist, whenever necessary, with personal hygiene, advice and guidance to children.

5. To carry out simple observations and develop the child's learning potential through progression in the preschool curriculum.

6. To work in a multi-disciplinary environment supporting the work of the preschool leader and demonstrating a positive and supportive attitude to teamwork activities.

7. To participate in training to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the needs of the post including mandatory training (Safeguarding, First Aid etc.).

8. To become familiar with and follow the preschool’s policies on Child Protection, Health & Safety, Behaviour Management, Personal Care etc.

9. To provide regular feedback on the child’s development to the leader, and the child’s parents, including feedback on the effectiveness of the strategies adopted.

10. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families, or other staff which is learnt as part of the job. Such information must not be passed on unless it is in the interest of a child.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 21.5 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- Nursery: 1 year (preferred)

Work Location: In person
