We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join our passionate Court of Protection (Mental Capacity) team. Working in a small but expanding team, and reporting to the Head of Department, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to enable the team to operate at optimum efficiency. This role is office based in our Tavistock office (PL19 0BN).
**Role Responsibilities**
As a Legal Assistant you will be responsible for delivering our mission of Great Service, Every Client, Every Time by taking a professional, client-first approach to every case. You will be expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative to effectively carry out administrative duties in accordance with company procedures and quality standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Effectively and efficiently manage client work as allocated by the Head of Department in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
- Ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously, client files are maintained on our case management system DPS, and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs.
- Researching and preparing legal documents.
- Supporting solicitors to conduct interviews with clients and to keep a note of what is discussed.
- Typing dictated notes.
- To attend court with a solicitor or barrister when necessary.
- To support the business development of the Mental Capacity team through proactive marketing of the firm, its services and longstanding reputation within the community.
**Job Requirements**
Whilst character is important to us, we do require a certain level of experience and qualification to succeed in this role. These are:
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in a comparable role.
