This is an exciting opportunity to join the Marshall IT Infrastructure Team and be at the forefront of Information Technology within a defence focused business. You will be supporting day to day operational services in the UK, Europe, Canada and the Middle east. There are many opportunities to learn new skills and be involved in the implementation of new technologies as they are designed and incorporated into the Marshall IT estate.
Your responsibilities will include:
The successful applicant will join an experienced team, reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager.
You will be helping to provide operational and project support of our IT estate, including physical servers, storage arrays, SAN, backup services, ensuring the environment is current and up to date.
Activities will include;
- Critical Infrastructure Maintenance and patching
- LINUX Server
- Windows Server
- Citrix Server
- NETAPP SAN
- VMWARE Hosts
- Work closely with external vendors technical support when resolving problems and communicate the resolutions.
- Performing Continuous Service Improvement - Benchmarking, performance monitoring (Daily, Weekly and Monthly system checks) ensuring that all infrastructure and services are configured/managed to optimum levels.
- Ensure Back
- Up's for all systems are executed and tested in accordance with policy and process.
- Management of all relevant documentation. Produce and maintain documentation and ensure that knowledge transition to other teams is performed as required.
- Experience of maintaining Data Centre Operations
- A good understanding of Windows Server, LINUX and Citrix Server management
- Firm understanding of Microsoft storage principles
- Good understanding of SAN storage technologies (NETAPP)
- Good understanding of VMWare Hosts maintenance
- Experience in Patching and Vulnerability Management
- Experience of Microsoft Group Policies and Active Directory Scripting using tools such as PowerShell
- Good understanding of backup technologies and approaches
- Good logical diagnostic skills, ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Good report writing and communication skills
- Able to work well independently as well as with a team
- Capable of meeting deadlines and following a defined schedule
- Methodical and detail oriented, with a focus on delivering results
- Able to innovate and influence others on service improvement ideas
- Self-motivated
- Willing to get stuck into the ‘unknown’ and be persistent
