And right now, we are looking for a Head of Reserving & Capital at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships and leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products. You will be leading all aspects of Saga’s reserving and capital analysis within the Insurance Analytics team to support the delivery of the insurance strategy, customer outcomes and contribution to the achievement of the overall P&L for Acromas Insurance Company Limited (AICL).

Main Responsibilities
We are looking for a proactive leader who has a proven track record of leading (and ideally building) successful and dynamic teams to deliver best-in-class reserving and capital analytics capabilities. The teams you will be managing will be composed of a diverse level of professionals with backgrounds ranging from actuarial to data analytics with some cross over into machine learning. You will also work closely with our claims, pricing and finance teams.

The role requires strong actuarial skills and an ability to understand business process to make quality judgements and set robust methodologies and assumptions used in reserving and capital analytics processes. You will be required to lead the team valuation of insurance liabilities by assessing appropriate levels for reserves and ranges for possible outcomes and link with different teams internally, external auditors and consultants.
- Managing the setting of the monthly reserves and quarterly Solvency II Technical Provisions as well as quarterly Solvency QRT returns
- Developing, embedding, and maintaining a robust reserving policy and process which meets Solvency II and IFRS 17 requirements
- Building an end-to-end reserving process on the Home product and set best-in-class standards across the Motor and Home books
- Championing use of machine learning and insight transformation to investigate and solve some of the organisation’s toughest problems and deliver tangible business value through analysing and managing claims trends, accurate claims liability valuation, capital efficiency and reinsurance evaluation
- Collaborating with Claims, Pricing and Underwriting to deliver the strategy and supporting delivery of key KPIs such as target loss ratio, return on profit, and policy volumes are met
- Continuously generating ideas and acting as a thought leader to further develop strategy and culture, both within the reserving and capital teams and the wider business
- Managing any risks or controls delegated to this position as detailed in the relevant risk registers, in line with the business's risk policy
- Providing support to AICL’s Chief Actuary and CEO to influence the overall AICL strategy and direction
- Collaborating with senior management across the wider business to lead the delivery of key aspects of Group strategy and the company's key shareholder objectives
- Building and managing a successful and dynamic team
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
- Communicating technical output clearly and confidently to stakeholders of all levels
