Fire Safety Advisor

We are looking for a Fire Safety Officer to join part of our QTS Estates and Facilities team. They will work closely with Health and Safety, Security and H&S Training within CNWL as well as other departments such as Clinical Teams.
We are looking to find an enthusiastic, dynamic and pro-active individual as who is forward thinking in the discipline of Fire Safety.
The role will cover the whole Organisation including London and Milton Keynes, the role will initially be based in central London and Euston Road with the requirement to spend days across different sites.
**Please note**: you will be on QTS contract and not CNWL
The post holder will support the QTS Fire Safety Officer in all matters regarding fire safety throughout QTS and its managed sites. The post holder will deliver appropriate training to personnel in fire safety. It involves Strategic Planning, Operational Management, Service and Policy information revision and working cross organisationally.

Strategic Planning
- To be involved in the legislative fire risk assessment process of all workplaces, analysing results and prioritising remedial actions and preparing fire safety plans.
- To lead and advise on the formulation and continuous monitoring of a documented Fire Safety Policy.
- To work in partnership with designated estates staff in undertaking fire safety audits with contributory reports on the findings.
- To work in partnership with the Trust Risk Management and Emergency Planning team; Local Security Management Specialist and Health & Safety Manager on joint work streams including lockdown and evacuation, emergency plan procedures.
- To liaise with estates staff and planning teams, local building control and the local fire authority in the specification of fire precautions in new and existing premises.
Operational Management
- To provide support and assistance to Fire Safety Officer to ensure s/he can fulfil both statutory and mandatory requirements by the QTS Executive.
- To advise and assist management to ensure that all premises meet the minimum and ongoing statutory requirements and associated legislation, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRO) 2005 and HTM05 including the preparation of fire risk assessments, emergency plans, strategy and compliance
- Provide and present a quarterly fire safety report to the Health and Safety
- Support the preparation of the annual report to keep QTS Board aware of the state of fire safety across the sites and any legal liabilities that QTS or its management may be exposed to.
- To provide specialist fire safety advice during construction, refurbishment or any other building alterations. Provide support to commission and test fire safety
- To advise the Learning and Development Department on training programmes for CNWL and QTS staff, organise regular fire drills and staff training, witnessing the effectiveness, or otherwise, of fire drills, recommending remedial action when necessary and keeping accurate records and statistics of such.
- Deliver ad hoc training sessions at both ward or departmental level and via general fire lectures. Devise differing lectures for the various categories of staff.
- To support the Incident response model of training across CNWL &
- To deliver and review training by, and with, Inhouse Learning and Development Trainers and report the findings to the Health and Safety Committee.
- Deliver a broad range of training products to include:
- Fire Warden
- Fire Marshall
- Evacuation Training including tabletops and post incident
- Equipment including extinguishers, evacuation chairs and ski sheets
- General Fire Safety
- Monitor records of fire safety training and implement improvement strategies on attendance levels.
- To manage and supervise adequate provision and effective maintenance of all fixed fire
- fighting equipment, fire safety signs, notices, and monitor and review the maintenance of the physical fire safety infrastructure.
