Education and Outreach Officer

**About the role**:
In this role you will drive a major new programme of space-focused outreach, engagement and skills delivery, with international reach and local focus, and sits at the centre of a strategically important and long-standing partnership between the University of Leicester (School of Physics and Astronomy) and the National Space Centre (home of the National Space Academy). Working alongside colleagues in the partner organisations, you will use your technical expertise and knowledge of the space sector to support development and delivery of outreach, training and major national/international summer school events, ensuring that the University’s world-renowned excellence in space research and teaching is incorporated throughout the National Space Centre and Academy’s portfolio of activities.
The role is strongly aligned with Space Park Leicester, a new community of industry, academia and students which will drive world-leading research, innovation and skills development in space and space-enabled sectors. The University-led venture is situated next to the National Space Centre, which is a partner in the project. You will be responsible for developing the public engagement programme for Space Park, promoting Leicester as the ideal location to study and pursue a career in space and related sectors, and ensuring that Space Park makes a major contribution to the region, supporting schools and communities and opening up new career pathways for a diverse range of learners.
The post holder will work flexibly between the Space Park Leicester, National Space Centre and University main campus sites. They will be based at Space Park Leicester, but will spend 50% of their time at the National Space Centre, which is on an adjacent site less than 300 m away.
