Open Source Program Officer

XenServer has a strong heritage in delivering choice, performance and security in its products to customers. Cornerstone to this mission is supporting and engaging with a robust open-source community and ecosystem. We’re looking for an Open Source Community Engagement Manager who will lead, inspire, motivate and represent XenServer before various open source communities such as Xen Project, Linux Community Foundation and the Xen XAPI Toolstack.
Your responsibilities include overseeing and maintaining a robust community, a growing developer program, fostering enterprise sponsorships and delivering a strategic community growth and development plan. This position requires a strong leader with an ability to convey concepts to a broad and diverse membership while fostering community collaboration to achieve desired objectives. In addition, you will manage development and representation of open source community events, community membership participation, promotion, budgeting and success criteria.
**Responsibilities**:
- As the community engagement manager you are the leader and voice of the XenServer open source program externally and internally.
- You will build, develop and foster an active community while representing and conveying XenServer interests.
- Monitors, responds and proactively engages to member inquiries and facilitates community engagement.
- Evangelize project objectives through various outreach initiatives including authoring content, hackathons, delivering presentations, posting social media, and other activities leading to proactively engage program members to represent program value and engagement.
- Gathers feedback from key stakeholders and product teams to communicate interests, offering and value.
- Builds and articulates a community growth plan including key success metrics, community activities and deliverable.
- You will have responsibility to develop, execute and sustain XenServer corporate open source strategy to include collaborating with leadership and stakeholder groups across product management, marketing and engineering to successfully represent XenServer interest.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Experience running, building and participating in open source communities
- Successful track record of growing the community membership and collaboration
- Ability to understand, distill, and communicate complex technical concepts to a wide audience
- Strong people engagement skills, charismatic, relationship-builder, influencer
- Organizing, promoting, and running large developer-focused events.
- Managing sustainable organizational programs with many distributed stakeholders
- A passion for open-source,
- Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise in hardware and software development capabilities across multiple programming environments.
- Key knowledge of open-source licenses and general open-source compliance issues
