Are you a passionate Design Engineer, looking for an exciting new role?

Coulter Elite Resourcing are currently looking for a Design Engineer to work with one of their well-established and very successful clients based in Barnsley h working as part of their Design team.

The purpose of this role is to provide support to all operational processes in the development of and maintaining of Jigs and fixture Design systems and procedures in line with company Standards. Provide leadership and facilitation of the Jig and fixturedesign and prove out process for both new and existing products, to ensure jigs are capable of producing product/parts to drawing, providing through the use of process experts clearly defines alternative process or methods of manufacture.

Project manage the design, manufacture, commissioning and prove out of jigs and fixtures into production, following the 8 stage gate & validation process. Both internally and externally resourced projects

Provide procedures for the calibration and maintenance of Jigs and fixtures, both existing and new

Principle Responsibilities for the Design Engineer:

- Attend Stakeholder meetings for the production areas assigned as your responsibility, provide timely feedback and complete actions to agreed time scales
- Lead and facilitate the design, manufacture and implementation of new jigs and fixtures
- Design J&F's and Bespoke equipment in a cost effective manner without losing quality and robustness
- Develop and maintain Jigs and fixture designs, models, 2D drawings, calibration requirements etc. to company standards
- Lead and facilitate jigs and fixture design project teams to deliver new and existing jigs/fixtures on time to agreed targets
- Liaise and support where agreed with external services providing an turnkey package for new process/ equipment installations
- Liaise with Fabrication Validation Engineer to provide detailed analysis of capability, functionality of new jigs and fixtures and improve for production readiness
- Where Jig and fixture improvements ideas are proposed which are or are not accepted ensure a full record is developed and maintained to build up a history of the jigs/fixtures
- Provide updated drawings for Engineering Change proposals to existing jigs and fixtures, proposal of modifications where applicable or the need for new.
- Provide where assigned validated data required to support 15 stage implementation of New Products, Significant Engineering Change and Legacy Products
- Provide in the form of an electronic data pack, accurate up to date information to other departments when requested,
- Develop and maintain a drawing issue control for jigs and fixtures to ensure project timelines are accurately recorded and discussed at project meetings. Including where drawings are issued to suppliers to ensure we have full traceability of externallyissued drawings (in conjunction with Purchasing Manager)
- Where quality capability data highlights a consistent level of performance but is outside the product/part drawing requirement, liaise with Design Engineer - Components (Hoyland) to change drawing tolerances, if feasible
- Develop and maintain for all jigs and fixtures the calibration master control documents for existing and legacy products

Person specification:

- Degree level mechanical engineer (HND may be considered)
- 3D and 2D CAD experience (preferably CREO or equivalent)
- Design bias background with jigs and fixture development and control
- Previous fabrication product design experience desirable
- Experience of Automated, Semi-automated and manual manufacturing process experience
- Cutting: Laser, Plasma, Waterjet etc.
- Pressing and cold forming
- CNC Machining (Milling and Lathe)
- EDM
- Surface grinding and cylindrical grinding
- Automated welding
- Fabrication
- Assembly

This is a full time permanent Design Engineer position,, offering an annual salary of £40,000 plus annual company benefits to include a 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, pension scheme, discount scheme on all company products.
