The Company
An established and experienced provider of recycled wood products to the industrial and commercial sectors. This is an expanding and a growing company who are investing in new production technologies and processes.
What is the purpose of the Shift Manager role?
To efficiently run and supervise the day-to-day process of the Particleboard Department. Senior responsibility for the site out of hours and escalation to the Duty Manager when required.
What will be the responsibilities of the Shift Manager?
- All aspects of health and safety are met and followed
- Generate Permits to Work when required
- Ensure all targets are met throughout the process on a day to day basis
- Report to the PB Production Manager on a daily basis
- Quality control, including the full understanding of the technical aspect of the entire process and meeting all required legal standards
- Organise maintenance work as and when required
- Ensure that all personnel are working within their expectations and involve HR when disciplinary process or performance management is required
- Performance Yearly PDPs for all direct reports
- Management of personnel's holidays and organise shift cover as and when required
- Carry out weekly crew talks and ensure all are up to date with Communicate safety issues, company goals and objectives
- Generate training modules as and when required
What skills and experience will the Health and Shift Manager have?
- IOSH or NEBOSH - desirable
- Green Belt Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing qualification - desirable
- Statistical Process Control, Process Improvement experience - desirable
- Leadership/management qualification (HNC, HND or Degree) - desirable
- Proven leadership experience
- Good computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office
- Previous experience in heavy manufacturing plant - desirable
- Good mathematical skills and understanding
- High degree of numerical and analytical skills
- Detail oriented, organised and flexible with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Able to work to deadlines
- Positive, professional and diligent
