Estimator

Currock Engineering Co Ltd are looking to recruit an Estimator who has worked in an engineering environment, for a growing **Defence and Aerospace Precision Engineering Company.**The company has scheduled orders out to 2027 and works closely with OEM on classified R&D projects. This is an exciting role.

**Reason for the role**:
The company has continued to grow, and therefore a role has opened for an Estimator to join the company's technical sales team. We are also looking for a replacement in the coming months.

**Quoting Overview**:
Request for quotes is generally the first instance of the customer offering Currock an opportunity to requote an existing part or quote a new part. New parts will often involve a team discussion for the most complex parts. As with most functions in Currock,quoting is a team effort and discussion is a vital part of building a quotation. This can involve all the departments including purchasing, programming, production control, shop floor team leaders, etc. Good communication and engineering knowledge is key tothe role.

Quoting involves dealing with the customer directly so a friendly and confident manner is required. It is also important to offer the customer quotes that have fair pricing with accurate delivery lead-times. Response times to the customer and accuracy arekey to this role.

It is important to have the right personality and approach to business. The approach to suppliers is important as is the engineering experience, support. Training can be given to the right individual.

- Understand the requirement from the RFQ. Check the following:

- Lead-time
- C of C
- First article inspection reports
- Environment
- Terms and Conditions from the customer to ensure compliance
- Proceed to quotation from the RFQ- Size of component
- Material type
- Complexity of the part is within our manufacturing capabilities
- Information to produce a formal quote
- Liaise with engineering department if required
- Basic method of manufacture, setup and run times
- Review best machine and tooling requirements
- Define any brought out costs. This is supported by procurement
- Negotiate material costs and competitive tender
- Fixings, Sub-con processes
- Material scrap removal costs if applicable
- Produce a quotation. Once all costs and manufacturing method have been established a quote can be raised on Epicor our ERP system
- Completion of the quotation
- Additional caveats can be added to the quote
- Lead-times offered
- Batch sizes and price breaks
- Validity of the quote
- New quotations for previously manufactured parts
- Comparison of the following is required.- Material prices
- Sub-con prices
- Change in set and run times
- Hourly rate
- Price breaks as required
- Prior to sending the quotation to the customer
- Internal communication maybe required with senior management
- All aspects of the quotation are reviewed
- Build close working relationships with suppliers and customers ensuring effective communication and service standards are maintained

**Experience/background**:

- Seasoned professional estimator in precision engineering
- Educated or apprentice trained as an engineer
- Demonstrable third party working and relationship management
- Commercially aware
- Manage reports, forecasting

**Essential Requirements**:

- Generating request for quotations for materials and sub-con processes
- Dealing with incoming enquires from an established client base and nurturing those relationships.
- Working closely with various internal departments
- Work with and understand technical, engineering drawings.
- To have good working knowledge in an Engineering / Manufacturing environment.
- To be dynamic have a passion and enthusiasm for business development and improvement.
- To have a value-added approach when dealing with supplier and customers

**Desirable experience**:

- Experienced in raw materials in the Defence and Aerospace sector.
