**Role Overview**:
Oldham Emergency Duty Team (EDT) is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for the recruitment of an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Social worker; to join a well-established team in delivering support and assessment to vulnerable children and adults outside of normal working hours.

Oldham EDT respond to emergency out-of-hours social work referrals during evenings, overnight, weekends and public holidays, where emergency intervention from the Local Authority is required to safeguard vulnerable children and adults.

This role will involve being part of an existing out of hours Rota (please see attached document). It will include time limited work with service users, multi-agency work with other professionals and Office-based assessment, support, triage and administrative duties.

Additional Training and support will be provided in relation to promoting an applicant’s development in Children’s Safeguarding and Adult Safeguarding.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To develop a local knowledge and understanding of resources which are available to meet the needs of service users, and signpost services users to appropriate service if appropriate.
- To contribute to the review and evaluation of cases, through observations, assessment and monitoring, ensuring actions are followed up.
- To undertake enquiries and assessments of vulnerable children and adults, including assessments under the Mental Health Act.
- To ensure files and records are accurately maintained, in accordance with Council policies and procedures. Information should be appropriately shared with other professionals.
- To ensure accurate information is recorded on social care IT system and passed to appropriate daytime services.
- To provide written and verbal contributions to other agencies and professionals
- On occasions you may be asked to convey families to a place of safety and/or children to foster placements. There may be occasions when you will need to assist adults to move to care establishments.
- To work out of office daytime hours, including weekend work. Occasional work in normal working hours may be required when working in partnership with other agencies.

**Key Requirements**:
To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

- Experience of direct work with children, adults & families and an ability to quickly build rapport to enable positive outcomes overcoming any barriers
- A post qualifying qualification to be an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)
- The ability to work cooperatively with other agencies
- To work well under pressure and manage crisis situations
- To have good ICT and record keeping skills
- An understanding of good practice, legislation, issues and local/national initiatives for child and adult safeguarding
- The ability to work out of normal working hours and have access to your own transport
