**Traffic Management Operative Job Description**

**Role Purpose**

The purpose of a Traffic Management Operative is to manage and coordinate the safe and efficient movement of traffic in construction, maintenance and event operations. This involves setting up and maintaining traffic management systems, including road closures, diversions, lane restrictions and temporary traffic signals. The role also involves monitoring traffic conditions and liaising with relevant stakeholders and members of the public.

**About the Role**

A Traffic Management Operative is responsible for the safe and efficient management of roadworks and traffic flow in a variety of different settings. This role requires attention to detail and knowledge of relevant safety regulations, as well as the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with colleagues and other professionals.

**Summary**

The Traffic Management Operative is responsible for the smooth and safe operation of traffic on the road network. This role involves working with a wide range of stakeholders, from local government to the public, to ensure traffic flows efficiently and that all regulations are adhered to. The Traffic Management Operative will assess the current traffic conditions and implement appropriate measures to ensure safety and efficient movement of traffic, whilst liaising with other organisations and responding to any queries regarding the road network. This role requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a good understanding of the traffic management systems and regulations.

**Duties**
- Assisting with the management of traffic flow on roads and highways
- Monitoring and controlling traffic flow by using radio communication and manual control.
- Ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and safety standards
- Providing advice to road users on traffic matters
- Managing the positioning and movement of traffic signs and signals
- Completing Risk assessments

- M1/M2/M5 lantra Qualification
- Driving Licence

**Salary**: £12.00-£12.50 per hour
