We are looking for a consultant with experience of working in the Cardiology, Acute medicine and General (internal) medicine, who are able to deliver excellent care to our patients and work with us to further develop our service to meet the needs of our population.

Applications are invited for the position of Consultant Cardiologist at the North Middlesex University Hospital, a busy and ambitious hospital with full Care Quality Commission registration.

The future plans for The North Middlesex University Hospital involve moving forward with an emphasis on growth. We are committed to both expanding and improving services in order to deliver the best care possible for those who matter most; our patients.

Following the implementation of the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey clinical strategy, Cardiology activity has markedly increased and the department of Cardiology has seen significant expansion.

In line with the majority of acute trusts approximately 1/3 of all acute medical admissions are with cardiac related illness, and we are seeking a highly motivated consultant colleague to work within the department to provide excellent acute care and develop new service pathways for this cohort of patients.

Applicants must have full GMC Registration and must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of their CCT from the date of the interview.

An indicative job plan/timetable for this post with indicative Programmed Activities (PAs) is provided below, but this will normally be re-assessed after 3 months of appointment to ensure
it meets the needs of the service.

**For a whole-time 10 PA contract**: the baseline split is
- Direct Clinical Care: 8.0 PAs on average per week (Clinical activity, clinically related

activity, predictable & unpredictable emergency work )
- Supporting Professional Activities: 1.5 generic SPAs (CPD, governance/audit, teaching)and 0.5PA Quality and Service SPAs to be agreed with appointee (assumed to be educational supervision)

or by the Medical Director for Trust-wide roles.
Job plans are reviewed annually and applicants are encouraged to study the provisions of theConsultant Contract for England 2003 under which this post is offered.
