Amazon seeks a passionate, results-oriented, Data Engineer to identify strategic initiatives that will form the next generation of Amazon Logistics. Responsibilities include: - Own the data engineering space for Amazon logistics by working with teams in reviewing existing architecture, recommending best practices in DW and databases - Work with in-house scientists, global supply chain, transportation and logistics teams, and software teams to identify new features and projects - Work with native AWS pipelines to build scalable daily, intraday and realtime/streaming datasets - Constantly innovate and improve on existing services that transfer data from one systems to another - This is an individual contributor role with potential to become a people manager that will manage a team of 3-4 DEs and partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions Key job responsibilities 1 - Build complex ETL pipelines ranging from D-1 to streaming data loads in native AWS 2 - Automate adhoc data processes in AMZL BI and tech community 3 - Identify and build denormalized datasets 4 - Train and Mentor other junior Data Engineer **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS** - Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fields - 8+ years of relevant experience in one of the following areas: engineering, database engineering, business intelligence or business analytics. - 6+ years of hands-on experience in writing complex, highly-optimized queries across large sets. - 6+ years of experience in programming languages like Java,, NodeJS etc. - Demonstrated strength in modeling, development, and warehousing - Experience in working and delivering end-to-end projects independently. - Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to storage and computing **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** - Demonstrated industry leadership in the fields of Database and/or Data Warehousing, Data Sciences and Big Data processing - Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, EMR, Kinesis and RDS - Advanced knowledge and expertise with Data modelling skills, Advanced SQL with Oracle, MySQL, and Columnar Databases - Advanced knowledge of Java, Python, Tableau and R. - Ability to work on a diverse team or with a diverse range of coworkers "Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
