We’ve got an exciting opportunity for an exceptional and experienced Functional Skills tutor to deliver English courses to Ukrainian guests at our training centre in Oxford from September.

This role is offered on a freelance basis and courses are offered depending on the demand in the area.

You would need to be available for 2 consecutive weeks at a time to deliver our fast-track English course.

**The Role**

We’re currently looking for a freelance Functional Skills tutor to manage all aspects of delivering our Functional Skills English course at our training centre in Oxford to groups of Ukrainian guests.

Our Functional Skills courses range from Entry 1 to Level 2 so you would need to have the relevant competencies and experience to deliver all of these levels.

**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**:
To be responsible for all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment of Functional Skills qualifications to ensure all required outcomes are achieved in full in line with Quality Assurance standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Undertake initial assessment, guidance and in-depth analysis of diagnostic assessment to inform each learner’s programme.
- To work with learners to develop literacy, numeracy, ICT, language and functional skills required to complete their learning programme.
- To teach on courses and develop an outstanding provision that has a positive impact on the learner and learning process.
- To provide appropriate and relevant guidance for learners enabling them to develop knowledge, understanding and skills.
- To develop and implement timely, safe, consistent and relevant Individual Learning Plans and resources that are linked to initial and current assessments. Provide constructive feedback and progress on how learners can improve.
- To ensure that all awarding body quality requirements and qualification outcomes are met.
- To provide learners with ongoing assessment and feedback throughout the duration of their course.
- To monitor each learner’s progress to ensure they complete and achieve their qualification in a timely manner.
- To provide individualised feedback to all learners when assessing their portfolio.
- To plan and deliver teaching and learning assessment that meets the needs of all learners so they can achieve their qualification.
- To embed and contextualise key themes such as Safeguarding, PREVENT, British Values and Equality & Diversity in teaching and learning.
- To follow all Strive Training’s quality assurance processes and procedures including completion of ILP’S and group profiles and course registers.
- To attend team meetings and standardisation meetings as required.
- To assess all completed learner portfolios to ensure all learners have met outcomes in full including submission of any supporting documentation, sign off each unit and portfolio and submit for internal quality assurance.
- To support learners with SEND or learning support needs and adapt assessment methods and resources to enable them to achieve.
- To be aware of and implement OFSTED EIF requirements for ‘Quality of Education’ including sequencing of teaching learning and assessment.
- Provide insightful, constructive and informative feedback to help the learner maximise their potential.
- Have due regard and take appropriate responsibility for PREVENT and the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults.
- Uphold British Values with regard to equality and diversity.
- Actively promote the equality of opportunity for staff and learners at all times.
- Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.

**Criteria**:

- Relevant Teaching qualification (minimum of an AET).
- Relevant Functional Skills qualifications (minimum of a Level 2).
- Experience in delivery of Functional Skills qualifications.
- Understanding of and previous experience in delivering to Strive’s target audience (19 plus unemployed learners).
- Experience and competency in classroom delivery.
