Sustainability Officer Apprentice

**Job Title**:Apprentice Sustainability Officer

**Schedule**: 7.5 hours daily, Monday to Friday

**Pay Grade**: iFM Grade C Apprentice rate. Year 1: £14,719 Year 2: £15,770 per annum

IFM Bolton are pleased to have an excellent opportunity for an Apprentice Sustainability Officer based at the Royal Bolton Hospital, as a Sustainability Officer you will be a key member of the Sustainability, reporting to the Sustainability Manager, working closely with colleagues within the Estates and Facilities Services.

**Job Role**:

- Over the two-year Apprenticeship, the Apprentice must maintain a portfolio of evidence and complete a knowledge test, a practical task and an End Point Assessment.
- Maintain and assist in the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) reporting systems which ensure full compliance and proactive management of government schemes in relation to sustainability. For example, monthly KPIs on energy and water usage, updates on the Green Plan Support Tool (GPST).
- Assist in the development and implementation, of plans which improve Trust performance in Energy, Water & sewerage, Waste & recycling, Biodiversity, and Sustainable Transport.
- Present reports and analysis in a clear and attractive format. Examples being: monthly energy performance reports for finance, energy performance data, and sustainability and compliance data for the Trust Board.
- Act as a Sustainability ambassador, proactively engaging with our staff about all sustainability projects and initiatives.
- Promote strategies and campaigns across the Trust. For example, the Air Quality project, proactively engaging with staff/public transport/visitors.

**Qualifications**:

- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Willing to work towards completion of a Level 3 Junior Energy Manager Apprenticeship
- Computer literate with an excellent understanding of Microsoft office suite
- Understanding of the legal requirements of data protection and confidentiality

The Apprentice will undertake formal training where they learn skills and knowledge relating to the management of emissions across all scope 1, 2 and 3 emission sources. The Apprentice must participate fully in the training programme by:

- Complete all tasks and assignments
- Contribute to regular performance and progress reviews

Over the two year Apprenticeship, the Apprentice must maintain a portfolio of evidence and complete a knowledge test, a practical task and an End Point Assessment.

The post holder must take appropriate action to deal with identified discrepancies including maintaining records and reporting the situation to more senior members of staff.

Where necessary, the post holder must report discrepancies, incidents, identified risk and hazards.

The post holder should develop good communication skills that demonstrate courtesy and respect and form good relationships with other team members including answering the telephone and passing on messages. The post holder is expected to support effective teamwork by undertaking other technical activities, under direct supervision.

**Main purpose of the role**:
To support the development and implementation of a proactive programme to manage environmental compliance and sustainability performance. Primary responsibilities of this role will be to plan, organise and deliver operational aspects of this programme. With support from the Sustainability Manager and wider Estates and Facilities teams, the post holder will develop and implement plans and procedures that are guided by: regulation, industry best practice and Trust policy. Priorities will be:

- Sustainability data management, strategy support, performance and reporting
